WATERCOLOUR PAINTING IN IRELAND

Come and experience the magic of the Dingle Peninsula in south-west Ireland and capture the picturesque landscapes in watercolour. Bounded on three sides by the sea, its landscape combines the ruggedness of cliffs and rocky outcrops with the soft shapes of the rolling hills and mountains. The trip will include excursions around the peninsula, as well as a visit to the mysterious and wildly beautiful Blasket Islands.
You will be tutored during the course by Barry Herniman, a vibrant and experienced artist, who will teach you how to capture the light and drama of nature in your work. This course is suitable for beginners as well as experienced painters as working demonstrations and individual guidance will be given.
SPRING IN ODESSA AND THE CRIMEA Led by Tim Shuker and is planned for April/May 2007 Very few places in the world combine both natural beauty and rich historical heritage like Crimea. This tour will unveil the culture, history and architecture of this cosmopolitan region. Lead by Tim Shuker, a musicologist with a special interest in the music of Russia and USSR, you will visit some of the Royal Palaces of Nicholas II, including the Lividia Palace; the Palace of the Grand Duchess Xenia at Ai Todor and the spectacular Swallows Nest, a fairy tale castle precariously perched on the top of a cliff. You will have the opportunity to watch concert and ballet performances in Odessa and soak up the atmosphere of this wonderful place.
SHAKESPEARE STUDY TOUR, STRATFORD-UPON-AVON with Ernie Richards 2nd - 6th October 2006
Urchfont Manor College is delighted to offer you this once in a lifetime opportunity to participate in the Royal Shakespeare Company’s year long celebration of Shakespeare’s Work.
The plays performed at The Royal Shakespeare Theatre during the visit are the iconic romantic tragedy Romeo and Juliet and the passionate epic the Tempest. You will also watch a matinee performance of Antony and Cleopatra, starring Partick Stewart and Harriet Walter, performed in the more intimate setting of The Swan Theatre.
You will also have a guided back stage tour at one of the world’s leading theatres which will present an excellent insight into the colorful
history and working operations of the Royal Shakespeare Company. During the week you will visit the five Shakespeare properties and see where the famous Bard is buried at Holy Trinity Church. The performances and visits will be supported by a series of lectures, post performance critiques, and opportunities for group discussions.

Experience a taste of French culture and history in this tour of South West France.
Staying in the ancient City of Cahors you will enjoy a week of sightseeing and exploring some of the regions famous landmarks. You will enjoy a visit to Rocamadour, a town tiered precariously halfway up a cliffside and famed for its unique setting as well as being an important pilgrimage sight.
You will also explore some beautiful French towns such as St.Céré and St. Cirq Lapopie. You will visit the Pech Merlewhich is home to some of the finest prehistoric cave paintings in South West France, and the Gouffre de Padirac, a remarkable underground river system.
The tour wouldn’t be complete without tasting some of the locally produced wine.
