R120601 HANDAXES, HUNTERS & HENGES: THE AGE OF STONE

Due to the dates of this course (8-10 June) we have been informed it clashes with a large event happening in the Archaeological world which means that we have had to re-schedule to the new dates below.

Start with Dinner Friday 27 April Finish with Lunch Sunday 29 April

Tutor: Dr Nicola Snashall

For almost a million years the inhabitants of Britain depended on stone tools for their survival.  Today the Age of Stone seems remote and unknowable.  But archaeologists are beginning to unlock the secrets of our Stone Age ancestors.  This course explores how ancient Britons, from the earliest times to the end of the Neolithic experienced and shaped their world.  It includes a fieldtrip to Knap Hill enclosure, Avebury
Henge, and Lockeridge sarsen fields and the opportunity to handle ancient stone tools.
